Thursday vs. Sunday

I vow every weekend to finish chores on Thursday. That way, the weekend can be for play. And every Sunday I have to scramble to finish laundry and clean the kitchen, find and fold all towels, sweep , maybe clean carpets, change sheets, bleach bathroom surfaces, etc. All the things I SHOULD have done through the week. After I worked at school 8 hours, helped with homework, got baths, did at least one load of laundry, fix dinner, read two stories, and tucked everyone into bed. Who's idea was this that mom's should work AND do all the regular chores at home. It's crazy. So here's what we settle for:

1) none of our bedsheets have been peeed on
2) I spray the showers and shower curtain with bleach then get in to take my shower.
3) dinner is often ala carte. Max has rice, avery has strawberries, ricky has nacho/cheese, i have a frozen entree (with pre counted calories)
4)Laundry is clean...in piles in the laundry room...but clean
5) Towels can be hung and reused...after all you just wiped clean water off your clean body, right?
6) pajamas MUST be worn more than one night.
7) windows are cleaned when the smudges/dirt/glue/slobber obscure the sunlight
8) When I pull stacks of laundry off the dresser, it takes the dust off. (Genius, I know.)
9) Clean carpets before every major family gathering (christmas, easter, and summer birthdays)
10) Make sure teen rooms have a fire path in case of emergency or so I can sneak in and check on them at night.
11) bleach wipes cure all bathrooms, counters, sink grunge, doorknobs, coffe tables, lamp shades, etc.

I know I won't win any accolades for my house keeping habbits but, mostly, my kids are healthy, my animals are fed, my husband still comes home.
Oh well, maybe this Thursday.
